ViJay, Born on 22 June 1974 (age 47 years) in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Vijay has acted in more than 168 films, including “Naalaiya Theerpu” (1992) and many films in the action and romance genres after that.
His father was a bus driver and mother was a housewife. He started acting at the age of 16 after dropping out of school to pursue acting as his profession.
He starred in over 168 films, many of which were box office successes. Thulladha Manamum received more awards in Thullum (1999) and Thirupachi (2005).
However, this does not spoil the image of Vijay as a true artiste. Many critics have quoted him as a great artiste and his films have won several national as well as international awards.
His films even won several Best Film prizes at various film festivals around the world. But, people are always quick to judge an art actor or actress on the basis of the films they have created.

Personal Life
In 2002, Vijay was elected as the brand ambassador of Coca-Cola in the Tamil Nadu region. Vijay is married to Sangeeta Sornalingam; they have two children, a son (Jason Sanjay) born in London in 2001 and a daughter (Divya Shasha) born in Chennai in 2005.
