"A Possum In Every Pot" E.W. Carswell

(Everything You Wanted To Know About Possum's But were Scared to ask)

A Possum in every potForeword
The idea for this collection of information about America's Magnificent Marsupial, the Opossum (hereinafter called Possum), was spawned to meet needs created by several possum festivals or auctions that have sprung up in the Southeastern United States. One of these was in Wausau, Florida, and another was in Arcadia, Louisiana. The Wausau festival began as Funday. It was a day (first Saturday in August each year) in which people came from far and near to join local residents in their fun-making activities. The day long program has been described as one of the region's -- maybe even the nation's -- most authentic folk festivals. It remains one of the most unrehearsed and spontaneous.

Hey Family!!!

I have so many new things going on with me within the next few months that I figure I can just knock it all out in one shot. Forgive my writing, that's one of the family traits I did not inherit. Anyway, I just finished up student teaching. I will graduate with my Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education, and a minor in Psychology, on December 13, 2008. I'm so excited!! I will be certified to teach grades Pre-K through 5th.

Americans marked the seventh anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks with a heartfelt ceremony at Ground Zero and other solemn remembrances around the country, honoring those killed in the strikes that ended the US's sense of invulnerability and set the stage for two wars.

President George W. Bush helped dedicate a memorial at the Pentagon honoring those who died there.

scuba diving at vortex springsVortex Springs
(Part one)
When I was young, I got to spend a special day with my Uncle Glen. As best I remember, Uncle Glen was going to try and purchase Vortex Springs. The Springs are located in Ponce De Leon Springs, Florida and is a popular attraction for scuba divers and such. Diving there is sometimes deadly.

Orphan Train Riders
Written by Julie

book Orphan TrainThis week I found out something new about my husbands family history. His great grandmother was an orphan train rider. We don't know much about her because like most of the other OTR's she didn't like to talk about her past. She died in 1952 so I'm not sure how much information the family will get on her. I made a call to the New York Foundling Hospital (they adopted her out) yesterday and found out that if we can show proof that Brian is related to her and give them her date of birth they should be able to help us locate any information they have on her. I'm not sure what questions they could answer. It would be nice to know something about her. From what I understand once she was adopted she was treated pretty badly. She didn't speak about it once she married Brian's great grandfather so no one in the family knows much. I'll admit before hearing what little the family
